AIM Support Group of Ohio & N. KentuckyUpdates and Announcements
Thursday, July 11, 2002July Meeting Date ChangedDue to the July 4th holiday, the meeting was moved to July 13. Friends, Governor candidate for the state of Kentucky, Sonny Landham, and his running-mate, Roger Thoney, have agreed to meet with the Native American community to discuss Native issues important to Kentucky residents. They will use the July 13 meeting of the American Indian Movement Support Group of Ohio and Northern Kentucky as their forum for this. At this meeting they will inform us about their platform as well as allow us to ask them about how they will address Native issues if elected. Two issues of concern are the state's "Native American Council" that has *no Native people on it* and the 40-50 public schools that abuse Native people as their tokens of luck, or mascots. **Please come and bring up other issues.** We strongly encourage all Native American Kentucky residents and supporters to attend this meeting. Please help make this meeting valuable to all concerned. Please make plans to come and get this message to all Kentucky residents you know. Also, all those who have gathered school supplies for the school supply drive, please bring your donations to the meeting, if at all possible. We are now collecting all school supplies. (See below for more information.) Also needed: monetary donations to cover truck rentals, gas, and lodging for those who will be driving the trucks and delivering the school supplies. Thanks to all for your help with this! (See http://aim_support.tripod.com/aim-meetings.html for location and time of the meeting. Due to the July 4th holiday, the meeting was moved to July 13.
