Jerry Dearly to present the program at fund-raising dinner
 
Join us for dinner on the powwow grounds Friday May 26th at 7:30 p.m.
 
           This is a fund raiser for the operation of NAICCO. We?ll have good food and good company for a good cause. The proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to support the Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio, which sponsors the Moon When the Ponies Shed Powwow here in the Central Ohio area.
 
A special treat is in store for those who attend. The program will include a presentation by Jerry Dearly.  Jerry Dearly is a storyteller as well as an educator in the American Indian Education Program for St. Paul, Minneapolis public schools. "We live in an urban setting," Dearly said. "Many of our children today are intermarried and intercultural children. Any stories to provide direction for them are very, very valuable." Dearly says education is the key to success and he will continue to educate people of all ages and of each culture. "We're all one. All our cultures are one," Dearly said.
"If you have a question ?, he says, ?ask an elder, ask someone in the nation," Dearly says.
 
Dinner will consist of a hearty beef stew with wild rice, potatoes and carrots, a salad, fry bread and a beverage.
 
Admission is  $8 for NAICCO members with valid membership card and $10 for non-members Children 10 and under eat free.
 
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Center, located at 67 E. Innis Road, Columbus, OH 43207, [614-443-6120] or from any Trustee.
 
The Powwow is held at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Hilliard Ohio.  When you get to the powwow area, watch for signs for the dinner.
