There will be no parties for him. No cake, no presents, no friends or family. This man, who has spent half of his life behind bars, warrior for his people, deserves our attention on that day of all days. Momentum for his plight has slowed, media attention is nil and spirits are getting low. The Leonard Peltier Defense Committee invites every one of his supporters to reaffirm their commitment to Leonard and to join us in a worldwide Birthday celebration. 1. The Leonard Peltier Defense Committee will be holding a candlelight vigil at South Park in Lawrence, Kansas starting at 9 p.m. Speakers will include Raquel Burnett, Leonard Peltier Defense Committee; Dave Strano, Leonard Peltier Defense Committee/Kansas Mutual Aid Collective; others TBA. Other activities include music and a question/answer session. Candles will be provided. Please join us as we start a chain reaction of candles, lighting up the entire world. The South Carolina Support Group is planning a candlelight vigil in the square in downtown Anderson on Sept 12 at 11:00 pm. The German LPSG RheinMain is organizing a nationwide newspaper-campaign in a couple of German newspapers. On Sept. 25th and October 2nd in Offenbach/Main, there are Solidarity concerts for Leonard, Native American youth and human rights projects (KJK Sandgasse 26, Offenbach, 9 p.m.) and on September, 27th a Information meeting in Frankfurt/Main (Club Voltaire, Kleine Hochstr. , Frankfurt, 8 p.m.).
