Chippew-Cree Tribe passes Resolution to support Leonard Peltier
In a surprise move,The Chippew-Cree Tribal Council has approved to endorse a resolution supporting Leonard Peltier,a fellow Tribesman, from The Turtle Mountain Rez in North Dakota.Half of this tribe is originally from Turtle Mountain here on The Rocky Boys Rez in North Central Montana. This endorsement of a resolution was presented by Russell Houle, head of The NCMA(north central montana american indian movement).
Mr Houle has been banned from previous meetings( by a
different administration) and was searched bodily and the vehical he was riding in was also searched for weapons(none were found). He and 2 aim companions were then told to leave or be arrested. With a new tribal Chairman,John C. Houle,The NCMA was allowed to this first meeting in almost 5 yrs here.Other issues addressed were the epa water
contaminations(several sources) occurring upon the reservation and a personal court matter pertaining to child visitation rights being denied Russell Houle.
This is a very positive step towards ending what Russell Houle has termed "the self govornace war" here.I would like to thank Mr. John Houle,Ricky Morsette,Jonathan Windy Boy,Bruce Sunchild,Jake Parker,Donavan Stump,Ken Riding Bird and Kelly Eagleman for taking a positive stance on Leonard Peltier,as well as addressing the water contaminations occurring here upon the Rocky Boys Rez.
I hope to be let back in to another Tribal Council meeting pertaining to the Malstrom homes which were condemmed because of asbestos tiles and lead paints. These home were not cleaned out of these hazardous materials and some people are now complaining of illnesses they claim have only happened to them since moving into these condemmed homes.
