Here's my entry:

Leonard Peltier, America's Mandela, the never forgotten (in spite of
the media's indifference) Native American political prisoner who this
year completes 30 years behind bars for defending his people to
appease a vengeful and corrupt government agency. This year he was
also moved from prison to prison and held in solitary confinement for
six weeks, for no real reason and in spite of his old age and poor
health.

Hay hombres que luchan un día y son buenos, hay otros que luchan
muchos años y son mejores, pero hay los que luchan toda la vida y esos
son los indispensables.

Global Write-a-thon 2005

Human Rights Day

On December 10th, 1948 the United Nations adopted the [2]Universal
Declaration of Human Rights. It declared that the "recognition of
the inherent dignity and of the inalienable rights of all members
of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace
in the world." It could arguably be called the birth of the modern
  human rights movement.
The Amnesty International Write-a-thon, first organized by Amnesty
members in Poland, emphasizes the enduring importance of the
declaration and the human rights movement by drawing the world's
attention to human rights abuses that continue to this day. The
Write-a-thon is a truly global event participants from over 30
countries writing letters, read aloud in many languages, but all
containing the same message of freedom, justice and peace.

About the Write-a-thon

  What's a Write-a-thon?
A write-a-thon is a fun and educational meeting of people who come
together to write letters about human rights on behalf of specific
actions and cases. Amnesty International offers a choice of
numerous actions on varied topics and countries, and you can choose
to highlight as few or as many cases as you see fit, given the
nature of your event! A few actions are already available, and
about two dozen actions will be available at their site by
mid-November for you to download and print for your write-a-thon.
The International Peltier Forum registered as a participant and our
Write-a-thon will take place for 24 hours on December 10th, 2005.
Our Write-a-thon, of course, concentrates on freedom for Leonard
  Peltier.
Do we really have to write letters?
  Well, that why it's called a Write-a-thon. :-)
  * Please send your letters by email to [3]ipforum@skynet.be on
December 10th, 2005. We'll print them out and send them all
together to the White House. You can either send them as a Word
(*.doc) or WP (*.wpg) attachement, or as a text in the email body.

  * Or send your "real paper" letters and/or postcards before December
    10th to:

                   KOLA / IPF
                   Van Boeckel St. 20
                   B-1140 Brussels
                   Belgium
(Note: if you send letters from Europe, it takes about 2-3 days to
reach us; from the USA, Canada, Australia and elsewhere it will
  take 5-10 days !)
We hope to see your letter tumble in our mailbox on December 10th!
